I have the following suggestions:
1. Have the volunteers who are coming in for later shifts to report earlier. Take them off to the side and train them on the procedure for using the tablets and preparing the participants bags. It can be frustrating being told to just look over someone's shoulder, as they are dealing with participants
2. Have areas to charge tablets
3. Have Extra tablets for processing the participants, in case a tablet becomes defective, needs to be charged and for training.
4. Boxes for the various T-shirts sizes should be place under the table, according to the size not stacked off to the side.
5. Captains need to know how to use the tablets to process the participants. It is frustrating constantly hearing captains thanking you for volunteering, but can not help you with a problem with the tablet, locating additional bags, marker and stickers.
6. Under no circumstances should a captain or staff member yell at the volunteers
I had the opportunity to volunteer on Friday and Saturday, I had a wonderful time. I have the following suggestions:
* During the briefing, participants should be instructed to have their ID, QR code and waiver ( complete online) ready to show volunteers the at expo packet pick-up.
* Longer cords are needed for the iPad chargers ( expo packet pick up)
* Bottle of water for the volunteers.
* Comfortable chairs for volunteer
* Participants should be able to complete waivers on-line
* More stickers are needed…..there a sticker of a pizza running, the participants love them
* Participants should be allowed to exchange their t-shirt when they pick up their expo packets
* Participants should should be able to pick up multiple packets ( family/friend), should be able to put in their request in on-line.
There should be special area for multiple pick up and t-shirt exchange. Allow the participants to leave out on a positive note.
Lastly, are the participants required to attend the briefing before picking up their expo packets? Everyone hands should be stamped.
Keep up the good work.
