In this session I got a realistic understanding of what my future finances will look like with financial aid repayment. I learned of a few websites that I can visit to calculate potential costs to help me make GOOD financial decisions. Applying this information shouldn’t be too hard as I’m very tight with my money and have fairly good spending habits.

This session was a panel for careers in health sciences and although my current career path is not in that field I learned a lot of valuable information about the importance of perseverance and how it’s not uncommon to change the path you’re on or have your plans play out in a different. I also learned a lot about the health sciences industry and though I doubt that I want to be in that industry myself I do have a new found appreciation for people in that field.
In this session, I learned about how fossils can be used to track the evolution of senses. The speaker was a paleontologist at the Smithsonian museum and spoke about her career. Her general enthusiasm made this panel so interesting and opened me up to another field of study! (My professor Cyrus Sadeghian hosted this event and the survey sheet can confirm my presence)
In this session I got clarification on how to make appointments with my assigned advisor multiple ways. I also learned what an FX was which is something I didn’t know existed. The difference between an F, FX, and a withdrawal and how they look on your transcript and to other colleges. This was an overall informative session!
This end if they year meeting allowed me to see the upcoming changes to the scholarship program as well as understand what I need to do differently next semester if I want to continue as a promise scholar. The refresh sessions are January 14th and 15th.
