GivePulse Demo Training (Mini Sessions - Personal Enrichment)

One new piece of information I learned from the mini-session is that, in spite having attended a PGCC sponsored event, the corresponding impact cannot be submitted while the event is still on-going. The impact is to be submitted after the event has ended, because at that point of time, the hours claimed in the impact have been completed.

    ReFresh Session (5th session-FINAL)

I attended the Refresh Session. I was reminded that the goal of engagement hours is to foster a strong sense of community at PGCC, and that participants are required to attend at least two out of the five mini sessions offered through out the semester. I was also reminded that participants should only take courses aligned with their degree path unless given permission otherwise (academic advisor, the dean, the college's president.).

    ReFresh Session (4th session)

ReFresh, hosted by Special Scholarship Team Members Elio Cruz and Kimberly Johnson, reviewed the requirements and expectations for returning students of the Promise Scholarship Program. As repeated before students are expected to gain 15 engagement hours participating in PGCC sponsored activities which contribute to their learning and overall growth. One example used during the meeting was the attendance of sporting events on campus. Gaining engagement hours through this activity is accepted as it is participation in school pride and is a form of showing support for our student athletes.

    Peter Abang

Peter @ STEM WEEK @ PGCC

For STEM WEEK, I participated in a meeting named " Overcoming to Become", presented by Deborah Bowles. Here are my takeaways:
    1. To manage your finances effectively, create a budget. The budget should split your income in this manner: 50% towards needs, 30% towards wants, 20% towards savings.
    2. Effective studying requires you to take in material using your learning style, along with actively listening (paraphrasing) to your lectures.
    3. Consistency creates confidence
    4. When tracking your goals, create a vision board and make a journal of all the things you've done to make progress towards your goals.
