I am incredibly grateful to have returned from an unforgettable veterinary study abroad experience in Peru with VAW Global Health.
Throughout this journey, I had the opportunity to expand both my clinical knowledge and my cultural awareness in ways I will never forget. I studied at the Cochahuasi Zoo, provided care for more than 200 local dogs by performing physical examinations, administering vaccines, and providing deworming treatments, and assisted in a high-volume spay and neuter clinic.
I am very proud to walk out of this experience with new skills and insight such as proper alpaca handling, how to prepare and patients for surgery and administer anesthetics.
This experience challenged me to grow as a future veterinarian while allowing me to immerse myself in the beautiful culture of Peru. I am beyond thankful for everyone who made this opportunity possible and feel truly blessed to have been part of such a meaningful program. I look forward to carrying these lessons with me throughout my veterinary career.

I had so much fun volunteering at Arkofa Equine Farms over winter break. I had the opportunity to do hands-on service, cleaning stalls and helping feed the farm horses as well as helping the veterinarians during vet visits with different horses. I performed so well I was thankfully invited back to the Neuse Crossing Animal Hospital to ride along with the veterinarians for other vet visits. I really appreciated being able to serve the community by doing something I love.
As the winter season approaches, I enjoyed helping collect warm clothing items for those in need as well as donating a few myself. I’m very grateful that A2Z and the national council of women could come together and create this event for our community.
I had so much fun volunteering at the Saturday pop-up shop at Aggie Source. I was able to assist people’s at the Aggie Source and collect a few items for my own closet! I would definitely do this again.
