I was able to volunteer with the Atlanta Food Bank once again. They are a great organization that helps so many people, and I love to give my time to them. We finished cleaning the facility and prepared many boxes for the upcoming week. We put assorted condiments into boxes and packed them up to be given to the needy. It was a wonderful oppurtunity and I would love to go again.

We stocked shelves, made food boxes, and helped those in need inside the food bank. We also handed out boxes full of food for those who needed them. Food banks like the Atlanta Community Food Bank help improve human nutrition and prevent chronic diseases. Food banks also help to reduce food waste and lessen the environmental impact of food production. I hope to continue aiding this wonderful organization.

Volunteering at the Ward 8 Woods Conservancy was a fantastic time. I did through Howard University ASB's Day of Service. A group of us headed over to Ward 8 Woods to help pick up trash in the forest. While I was picking up trash, I felt that I was making a positive impact in my community and helping to protect the environment. Plastic waste on the ground can break down into microplastics, contaminating soil and water and making it difficult for plants to grow, or even killing them. This, in turn, can affect animals that live in the area and rely on the plants and water to survive. Contaminated water can spread diseases and kill whole families of animals. Animals might also think the trash is food and eat it, leading to poisoning. Trash in the environment can also prevent trees from growing, resulting in fewer trees producing oxygen, especially when many trees are already being cut down. When I was picking up the trash in Ward 8, I didn't feel disgusted. I felt that my contribution, although small, would help keep the Earth healthy and help animals and humans live healthy lives. Everyone else who was volunteering also seemed to be having fun, and the organizers were very friendly, explaining their cause and how they help their community. Overall, it was a great experience. I learned a lot about the area around Ward 8 Woods, and I would love to do it again.
