I had a wonderful and meaningful time volunteering at the finish line handing out medals. It was such a great experience. I stayed until the 14 hour cut off for the finish (8pm) to make sure there were enough volunteers to hand out medals. I think the shift should be designated from 11am to 8pm to make sure there is enough volunteer coverage. I then helped clean up and packed up left over medals and finisher cups. Thanks for such a well run and incredible event!
Amazing co-volunteer.
Could use some more info from Lifetime Staff, on the rules of timing. Is it chiptime, or guntime that counts.
Would be nice if the finish area was more closed off from spectators, so the runners can finish, get water, medic etc. without a crowd of people areoun.
I really enjoyed working with all the other volunteers to help out the runners. Matt was a great aid station lead!
There was an issue with the scheduling. We were told to meet a specific person in town at 8AM. There were 9 of us waiting at 8:20AM with no one from the race at the location, and no way to get in contact with anyone. Fearing the Aid Station would be completely unmanned, we chose to head up on our own only to find the Aid Station was already over-staffed. No one seemed to understand what happened or why we were there, but we chose to stay and just add additional support and marshals around the course.
Mix ups are bound to happen, but I would say volunteers need at least one contact phone number of who to call in case of these issues.
Little mix up at the beginning with a few of us at the warehouse but no one to meet us per the email instructions but, no worries, we drove up to stumptown and we're able to hook up and fill spots. All great and very cool to see that we could recycle the nutrition packs via Gu!
Volunteer registration confusion. The 9 people that sign up for today waited 20 minutes past 8 for our aid station caption before deciding to drive up. When we arrived the aid station had plenty of volunteers and said our aid station captain was for tomorrow (mtb day). It appears there was a mixup on the registration. We still volunteered. I helped with trash cleanup and zero waste efforts for the day.
