I had a fantastic experience at YELLS. The community is unintimidating and cozy, they are very kind to new interns and volunteers. They genuinely care about the kids and do their best to help them, even when it is difficult. I would 100 percent volunteer here again.
Today we went outside to the community to host a Yells Lemonade Stand, where we gave free drinks to the community, friends, and families. The students and I had a great time...even though it was a little cold!
Today at YELLS we did lemonade flyers on poster boards.
Today was my first day at YELLS and I truly loved and enjoyed it! It is such an energetic, fun, safe, and creative space not only for children, but new beginners in the teacher field like me. I played with the kids, got to know them, help them with homework, and observed other volunteers and teacher interact with them. I also was able to see how the teacher/volunteers went along with their classroom management.
