Ended up helping out as a Drug Testing Chaperone for the first hour or so of my Finisher Item Helper. Enjoyed greeting the finishers, hearing their stories, and congratulating them on finishing the ride.
I volunteered for a lot longer than the original volunteer hours because I kept working til around 6pm when almost all racers had finished. I was volunteering for my dad, Jeffrey Jay Reed (jjreed71@yahoo.com), to get into UNBOUND!
Good times I’ll be back next year.
Working at the aid station was a great time. One piece of feedback I would offer is that it would have been helpful to include a map or overview showing a recommended setup for the aid station. After initial setup, we ended up moving and shuffling around items on the fly. It ultimately did not have a significant impact on the experience for riders but would have saved volunteers some additional work and could have alleviated some points of congestion at the aid station.
Great location for the station
Smaller coke can. Not everyone drank all the coke
