Today I attended the Event Volunteers Orientation where I learned more about the zoo and the process to sign myself up for events!
I love getting to interact with the children each year for Zoo Atlanta's Cookies with Santa event!
I had a blast volunteering at the candy booth for Boo at the Zoo (Halloweekend at Zoo Atlanta) event courtesy of the Biology Honors Society! As a group of five (two seniors, a junior, and two freshmen), we got to distribute candy to adorable children and saw various animals during our breaks. I learned the importance of keeping a positive attitude despite any obstacles (like the heat and the sudden rush hours) and that “having fun” and “being in a good mood” aren’t all just passing mental states that come and go like clouds in the sky. Through watching my fellow volunteers, I learned that by actively choosing to be happy, we can cultivate inner joy and positivity which radiates to others as well. For our effort, we were each awarded with free tickets to the zoo! Jennie was kind enough to carpool us back to GSU. All in all, it was a day to remember filled with wholesome moments, a bit of cringe, and a LOT of candy and spooky costumes!
It was so fun! I loved seeing everyone's costumes and passing out candy.
I attended this event with a group of students apart of Scotties for Change--I had a great time being a part of the Atlanta community's Saturday afternoon, greeting families with children as they began their Halloween season!!
I got the opportunity to assist in the breakdown of the Sippin' Safari event at Zoo Atlanta.
