I think the Kahoot aspect of it was fun. It was kind of funny seeing the reactions of the coordinators when some people will get the questions wrong. My only thing that could change would be cameras. I know that it's used to see if people are engaged and staying focused, and I have no problem turning mine on, but my computer is old. Sometimes during the meeting it couldn't handle the fact that 80-90+ people all had their cameras on and it bugged. I'm almost graduating so I was pretty familiar with the content by now. I just have to make sure not to fail and I'll be set.

I made sure that I was still on track, I've already done my FAFSA and MHEC and I'm just waiting for my summer funds, as I'm already signed up for summer and fall. I was a little disheartened to hear that I can't get hours outside of PGCC anymore because that's where I got my bulk hours since a lot of events were during my class, but I'll see what I can do. It was a good refresher and conclusion for the the spring, and they did a good job on standing on top of questions that people asked, including mine.
This was my first event for the museum and it was not hard at all, of course I had people who were already experienced and constantly checking if I was alright and if I needed anything. The whole team was nice and helpful. I helped sort out a crafts table for children at the event, and I think they enjoyed themselves. They learned how to make bird seed feeders and sunflowers which was on theme for the garden event. I wish I got to see some booths, but I enjoyed being able to talk and help the kids, they were all kind and sweet. Parents also helped me by explaining to their kids and staying if the kid was a bit shy. One of the things I wanted to learn was how to interact with people, and throughout the day I learned that some kids liked to talk and have me there with them, while some kids just wanted space and silence to do their work by themselves. I did learn to wear sneakers next time, and with the shoes I had, I did my best with helping when it was time to take down the tents. I also recommended the garden sale to lots of people. I'm excited for the Heritage day event next Sunday.
I went after my class to go help out with setting up. Honestly it was very easy as we just needed to set up pizzas for people who came. I was really happy at the turn out and the activities that the other people running the event set up, were really fun. My friends who came said they had a good time and a good rest especially since we just took a final. Professor Ring let me serve people the pizza so that there wasn’t too long of a line. People were very patient for me when I was making their plates. I also went around asking if they wanted extra and collected their trash. While I wasn’t there for the end; Professor Ring made sure that I was still able to relax and take a break with my friends. Very good event and I would recommend this to my friends again next semester.
I think Ms. Nash did a wonderful job! Honestly I was inspired and I will keep "S.I.P" in mind. I can't do everything at once and I can't just keep doing everything academic, I have to do something for myself. I've participated in things like the Art Showcase as well as some art events that the library has and I honestly enjoy them. It's a creative outlet at school when I'm constantly just doing math and science. I'll be joining the research club because I found out about them in Chesapeake Hall and they'll allow me to study topics that I'm personally curious about with the help of a mentor and I really like that. Sometimes I find myself getting frustrated in classes I have to take because I don't find them interesting at all. I just need to find a middle ground where I do my classes as well as saving some time for myself. I might also make a vision board for the fall semester.
I think both Mr. Cruz and Ms. Sharber made it very easy to understand, they provided calculators for loans and the 50/30/20 method and those were actually so useful. I’ve used the loan calculator before. I think the best tip was to only borrow what you need instead of taking an “additional amount” because it will make it harder to pay back in the future. Someone asked a question about what about working for a company after having them pay for your tuition, and that was a very good question because that’s exactly what I was planning to do with John’s Hopkins.
I attended today's BVM texting Tuesday and I think this is a very good opportunity to be involved in the community at the push of a button at your phone. I will definitely attend future meetings, the training was very thorough and clear. I will do my best to keep up with texts. I just attended a meeting where we talked about why voting matters and this is a perfect way to act on what I learned!
I'Jae was very well spoken and the slides were clear and excellent, Venkayla did a great job answering question in the chat as well. I was also surprised to see how many people were on and how this is a national thing with lots of people from different states.
Thank you for having this program!
I like how there was a variety of panelists, specifically the student panelists that also came to speak. It just shows that no matter your age, getting involved is extremely important. I wish I got more involved with politics, earlier and I only started getting involved when I was 17. I learned how local elections are extremely important even when it's not national because there are the people that are going to represent my community. I need my community to be protected when it comes to schooling, jobs, the public environment (like parks and sidewalks) and even transportation. On the topic of the national election, I saw that people "gave up" with the election, because they thought their voice didn't matter, or they just believed not voting would somehow help? And I need people to see how harmful that is, and how it turned out for us. I loved how Ms. Thomas addressed the problems in the county so straightforwardly(how our elected officials can actually harm us by ignoring the people's needs, like Ms. Machado-Luces' example where they were going to use a facility with 400 non-extinguingashable batteries that were near a daycare and a home and would've poisoned our water had it gone wrong. ). After this meeting, I would like to look more into NAACP and maybe get involved.
