I always appreciate an opportunity to work with the Atlanta Community Food Bank in the Hunger Action Center. This session, I worked alongside Publix volunteers who come in a few times a year. It was interesting to watch the workers make personal assumptions about which materials were worth keeping and to be confronted with the reality that items they deemed "undesirable" were still good and could be of use to a person in need.

This community clean-up with Midnight Riot was eye-opening about how much waste members within the AUC often generate that ends up on the porches of West End residents. It emphasized the importance of these clean-ups as well as preventive measures to reduce the severity of waste accumulation.
