This is my first year volunteering for Project Homeless. I had a great time and have to say..... hats off to Mile High United way! So many people were helped to day! I plan on signing up for more events to help where ever and however I can.
I can't express how terrific these services were. The woman I assisted could not thank us enough! The resources provided were so genuine and thoughtful! Thank you so much for organizing such a large event and making it feel so organized! Great team at the United Way! I saw so many smiling faces, and watching the people being treated like genuine royalty was a great memory I will always have.
I am a Parole Officer and was paired with a parolee. It was a smooth transition, however, offender didn't have an ID. We waited in line for over an hour only to be told the offender was not eligible and had to report in person to DMV. No reason showed up on DMV screen. This offender unfortunately was on a short time limit because he had to return to his sober living house. We didn't have enough time to get him the services he needed. I would suggest having a pre-screen while waiting in line. Then we could have used our time to his benefit.
