My friend Anthony Tarantino and I were course marshals at 2 Lake County 2 and CR 2A. We both really enjoyed the experience. Traffic was fairly heavy most of the day, so we felt very needed in our task of stopping traffic to insure that the SR50 runners could cross the road safely and continue on their 50-mile journey. We found most of the drivers to be very courteous & friendly so our interactions with them were very positive. Most people that we had to stop even gave us friendly waves as they went on their way, and several thanked us for being out there. The runners were very grateful for our presence and we were thanked, more times than I can count, by so many of them. Having run in the Leadville Trail Marathon back in June, it was very rewarding to be on the other side this time, and being able to watch the race unfold through the vantage point of the traffic crossing that we were at was an added bonus.
Great to be out there with a great community of athletes.
Awesome people, event and atmosphere. Will come again.
Great team.
I had a great time directing traffic and encouraging runners. I was a little confused about the pre-race volunteer instructions on where to meet etc but I did what the information said and it worked out fine. I do think it would be worth informing the 2 and 2B course marshalls that shade is hard to come by and they should bring a popup if possible. We managed it OK but it could help future volunteers to be prepared. The race crew supplied us plenty of water and food to be out there.
It was great fun and we loved giving back to the running community.
Always a great time.
Like everything, including expo at Dutch Henry Hill base.
